We carried out fault finding and repairs on a lighting circuit that was repeatedly tripping the circuit breaker. The issue was identified and rectified, restoring safe and reliable operation of the lighting with no further tripping.
About the project
The customer contacted us due to their lighting circuit repeatedly tripping the circuit breaker. We began by safely isolating the power and carrying out electrical testing at the switchboard, where a short circuit was identified on the lighting circuit.
After discussing the issue with the customer, they mentioned that a pendant light had previously been installed by another electrician using a fitting purchased online. Based on this information, we inspected the pendant light as a starting point. Upon removing the cover, we found exposed wiring making contact with the metal enclosure, which was causing the circuit to short and trip the breaker.
The wiring was repaired and correctly insulated, ensuring all connections were secure and compliant. Once the repair was completed, the circuit was retested and the fault was eliminated, with the lighting operating safely and reliably again. The customer was relieved to have the issue identified and resolved without any further tripping.
